Pathology/TRIP Funded Project Form (doc)

The Pathology Department Research committee invites proposals for translational research projects. Proposals will be evaluated by the Translational Research Initiatives in Pathology (TRIP) scientific oversight committee. Outside expert opinion will be solicited as appropriate. Discussion of proposals prior to submission is encouraged.

Proposals will be scored based on:

1. Significance
2. Innovation
3. Experimental approach and feasability
4. How the project advances the mission of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the TRIP laboratory

Proposals should be submitted on the attached form. Research description should not exceed 2 pages in length excluding references, and should be divided into the following sections:

A. Abstract and specific aims.
B. Background
C. Preliminary data if any.
D. Proposed experiments & experimental approach, number of samples
E. Budget
F. Personnel: Principal investigator
G. References as applicable

Proposals should be in keeping with the goals of the TRIP lab:

  • Perform translational research focusing on the pathologic basis of human disease.
  • Facilitate technology transfer from research studies to clinical applications.
  • Develop and evalute novel molecular tests with potential for direct clinical application.
  • Provide infrastructure, resources and funding for Department of Pathology translational research, and for collaborative research between the Pathology Department and other clinical and basic science departments at the University of Wisconsin.

Novel assay development may require direct technical input from the Principal Investigator

Budget Guideliens:
List proposed budget for reagents & supplies. (TRIP will help determine the time commitment of personnel.
