Hematopathology Fellowship

This ACGME accredited fellowship provides subspecialty training in hematopathology to academically oriented pathologists. An experienced faculty and affiliation with a major university medical school provide trainees with exposure to the complexities and richness of a full service referral and research institution. In addition, large bone marrow transplantation and hematology programs and a major clinical cancer center provide opportunities and challenges to develop a solid foundation in the fundamentals and practice of hematopathology. The fellowship offers intensive experience in:
  1. morphologic evaluation of lymphoid tissues, bone marrow biopsies, and bone marrow aspirates
  2. cell surface antigen analysis of lymphomas and leukemia’s by flow cytometry and immunohistochemical techniques
  3. interpretation of molecular diagnostic data
  4. cytogenetics, including FISH
  5. analysis of problems in coagulation medicine
Each fellow participates in a related research project. Fellows are accepted for a minimum of one year and a second year of training is offered and encouraged.
