Kasturi Das, MD, joins the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine welcomes Kasturi Das, MD as an Associate Professor (CHS). Dr. Das comes to us from New York University Langone Medical Center where she has been a Clinical Associate Professor. Dr. Das received her MBBS degree in 1989 from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital in Burdwan, India. Thereafter she received a Diploma in Basic Medical Sciences from the University of Calcutta, India. She entered the Pathology Residency Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY, in 1994. Her residency was followed by a fellowship in Cytopathology at the Leopold Koss Laboratory, Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. From 2000 to 2006, she was an Assistant Professor, and later, Associate Professor, at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. During that time, she practiced cytopathology, surgical pathology and was Director of the Neoplastic Flow Cytometry Laboratory. She also served as the Pathology Residency Program Director. In 2006, Dr. Das took an appointment as the Director of the Cytopathology Laboratory at NYU School of Medicine, where she continued to practice both surgical and cytopathology. She has been the Assistant Director for Quality Assurance since 2009. Dr. Das specializes in urologic pathology and will provide services in both cytopathology and surgical pathology.
