The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, to succeed Dr. Michael N. Hart, who will be stepping down after 15 years as chair. The Department has 42 full time faculty members (30 M.D. and 12 Ph.D.) and 18 residents. It has a PhD graduate program extant since 1943. The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine processes ~24,000 surgical specimens, 16,700 cytology specimens and 3.7 million clinical laboratory tests per year. The Department is ranked in the top 25 in NIH funding with current extramural funding exceeding $9M.

We seek a recognized leader with an outstanding academic background, including strong clinical and research credentials, demonstrated commitment to education, experience in mentoring junior faculty, and proven leadership and management skills. Candidates must have an MD degree or equivalent, must be Board Certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology, and must have academic credentials for a tenured faculty appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
