Strategic Priorities – PATIENT CARE

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to providing the highest quality, cost-effective patient care within the UW Health Academic Medical Center. This includes comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology inpatient, outpatient, and consultative services to health care providers throughout the UW Health Enterprise, and to health care practitioners at community hospitals throughout the State. The patient care faculty foster the creation, transfer and application of knowledge of the pathophysiologic basis of human disease in their daily interactions with clinical colleagues to improve the ongoing quality of patient care. The department faculty coordinate the teaching of M.D. residents in pathology and other specialties, as well as post resident fellowship training in Cytopathology, Hematopathology, Surgical Pathology, and Transfusion Medicine.
