Professor Lynn Allen-Hoffmann Accepts 2016 Tibbetts Award at White House

Cabinet Secretary Maria Contreras-Sweet and SBA Associate Administrator, Mark Walsh, present the Tibbetts Award to Lynn Allen-Hoffmann, PhD, Professor of Pathology at UW-Madison, and Senior Vice President Regenerative Medicine, Stratatech Corporation, a Mallinckrodt Company.

Congratulations to Dr. Lynn Allen-Hoffmann, Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and the Stratatech Corporation on winning a prestigious Tibbetts Award which was presented at a White House ceremony on January 10, 2017. Tibbetts Awards are presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in recognition of outstanding small, high-tech businesses that have significantly impacted society and the economy through their instrumental research and development. Stratatech and its founder, Dr. Allen-Hoffmann, were specifically recognized for their focus on advanced skin regeneration therapies. Maria Contreras-Sweet, Cabinet Secretary for the SBA under President Obama, presented the award.

The Stratatech Corporation, a UW-Madison spin-out company recently acquired by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, received its first Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards in 2001. Since then, the company has grown from 5 employees to over 50 and has developed advanced regenerative medicines such as the StrataGraft® and ExpressGraftTM human skin substitute products.
