Second Edition of Metabolic Diseases Delivered to Department
Emeritus Dean of the UW Medical School, Philip M. Farrell, delivered a signed copy of his newly released Metabolic Diseases: Foundations of Clinical Management, Genetics, and Pathology, 2nd edition to the department. Dr. Farrell’s co-editors for the book include UW Emeritus Professor of Pathology, Enid Gilbert-Barness, and her late husband, UW Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics, Lewis A. Barness. Dr. Enid Gilbert-Barness, a pediatric pathologist of international reputation, served in the department from 1971 to 1993.
Since the first edition of Metabolic Diseases in 2005, significant advances in molecular and genetic sciences have been made and the editors called upon 31 authors to provide their knowledge and expertise for the new edition. The result is a comprehensive text, detailing a wide variety of metabolic diseases. The signed edition will be available in the Surgical Pathology library.
